The association with the auxiliary sign "neumen"
that has been used in musical notation since the 9th century,
becomes clear if one follows the canon of images and color sequences
arising from the constant rotation of the panels. The transition
from one image to the next creates tension. Depending on the choreography,
single or multiple prisms are moved. At the moment of rotation
all the images, if you will, swing open. Consequently, one can
see new combinations of images and signs emerge, while the preceding
ones are still visible for a moment until they finally fade out
of sight.
'NEUMEN motion/flow - Signs moved' is a machine that makes the
patterns of perception, of memory and discovery visible by a twist
of logic. It is a mind machine that goes crazy.
(*Neumen were the signs in use from the 9th century to indicate
a melodic line. The word is derived from the Greek NEUMA (meaning:
gesture, sign, hand signal, wave) and PNEUMA (meaning: breath).)
